What Is Article Express?

Article Express is a linking mechanism that leads researchers from a journal article citation to the full text of that article. It was designed by the University of Delaware Library to provide links to the appropriate resources—to an online source for the full text of the article, to DELCAT, or to an online interlibrary loan form—to make it easier for you to obtain needed material.

How Can I Get to Article Express?

Article Express-enabled databases display an Article Express button ( Article Express button ) (in some cases the words “Article Express”) next to citations retrieved in a results list. Databases which include Article Express are indicated by the Article Express icon (Article Express) next to them when they are referenced on Library Web pages. These databases include the Web of Science, a comprehensive database covering thousands of journals in all disciplines in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities; the BiblioLine databases; the Cambridge Scientific Abstracts databases; the EBSCOHost databases; the InfoTrac databases; the OCLC FirstSearch databases; the WilsonWeb databases; and some ProQuest databases.

How Does Article Express Work?

When you click on the Article Express button, a window with a menu of options opens. A direct link to an article may be available, or else a link to the publisher's site where you can search for the article. If it is not available online, you can check DELCAT or submit an interlibrary loan request.

Not every article is available online. Library subscriptions may not cover the issue that you need. Publishers may publish only selected articles from a journal or may not allow recent articles to be made available online.
