Description:

netLibrary is a collection of online electronic books (eBooks). It consists of two parts: the University of Delaware eBook Collection (eBooks purchased by the University of Delaware Library and available to University of Delaware faculty, staff, and students) and publicly accessible eBooks (free eBooks available to all users). To access the publicly acccessible eBooks, click on the “What’s Available” tab.

You can perform a basic search of eBooks by keyword, title, author, or full text. Click on the “Advanced Search” tab to search on title, author, full text, keyword, subject, and ISBN; to limit by year, publisher, and language; and to sort by various criteria.

Once you have retrieved a list of results, click on “View this eBook,” “Show Details,” or “Add to My List.” When you select to View an eBook, the eBook will be displayed in the online reader. If you click on “Show Details,” full bibliographic details about the book are displayed and you can choose either to view the eBook online or to check it out for 24 hours. If you click on “Add to My List,” you can quickly view the title again later in your search session and see any notes you may have for a title; if you have not yet created a free account, you will be given an opportunity to do so.

Personalization: The first time you use netLibrary, click on “Create a Free Account” at the upper right of the screen. Make a note of your user name and password. With an account you will be able to check out eBooks from the University of Delaware Collection and to have other personalization options available. On subsequent visits, enter your username and password after clicking on “Log In” at the upper right of the screen.
Notes:

While reading eBooks online, you can annotate any page of an eBook, save your notes for future reference, or print your notes as a text file by clicking on “Notes” in the online reader navigation area.

The American Heritage Dictionary is “embedded” in every netLibrary eBook. You can instantly look up the definition of any word while reading an eBook. Highlight a word, then click on the “Dictionary” tab in the navigation area.
Help: Click on the “Help” tab at the top of the screen. For further assistance, contact a librarian.
