ScienceDirect  Connect to ScienceDirect
  Start-up costs for the ScienceDirect database were made available through the support of the late Judge Hugh M. Morris and the Judge Hugh M. Morris Family. The organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry backfiles are made available through a grant from the Unidel Foundation.
Access: Internet-delivered database. There are three ways to connect:
   1. from a public computer in the University of Delaware Library
   2. from a University of Delaware campus connection in your dorm, lab, or office
   3. from an off-campus connection (University of Delaware ID required)
Description:

Provides access to the full text of more than 1,000 Elsevier electronic journals in chemistry and chemical engineering; clinical medicine; computer science; earth and planetary sciences; economics, business, and management science; engineering, energy, and technology; environmental science and technology; life sciences; materials science; mathematics; physics and astronomy; and social science; as well as indexing and abstracting for electronic journals from other publishers.

ScienceDirect also includes the complete backfiles of major journals in organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry.

ScienceDirect now includes electronic journals from Academic Press, Baillière Tindall, Churchill Livingstone, Mosby, and W.B. Saunders, which formerly constituted the IDEAL Online Library.

Coverage: Varies, but generally begins with 1995, 1996, or 1997. The organic and inorganic chemistry backfiles begin with volume 1 of each journal.

Journals: To browse the list of all the available journals, click on “Journals” in the navigation bar.
Links: Direct links to articles from ScienceDirect Gateway Partners, including the American Institute of Physics, the American Mathematical Society, the American Physical Society and Cell Press. Links to document delivery services, through CrossRef or via gateway partnerships, when the article is not immediately accessible on the ScienceDirect platform.
Alerts: If you want to create a personal profile to take advantage of advanced features, such as alerts, click on “personal login.” To review a list of previously saved search alerts or access a list of journals selected for new issue alerts, click on “Alerts”; to do this, you must first create a personal profile by clicking on “Account.” Access to the Alert search results is limited to the person who created the e-mail Alert.
Notes: From the ScienceDirect welcome screen, you will search the Science Direct home page by default. You may also choose to search a particular subject “corner.” Use the “Subject View:” pulldown menu at the top of the screen.
Output Formats: When you view an article on ScienceDirect you can access multimedia features which accompany that article. This gives you access to features not available in the print versions of articles, including video files, audio files, Excel spreadsheets, and Word files.
