Sometimes, you will find that your searches are returning too many results. Most databases provide limits to allow you filter your results. Limits offered by Academic OneFile are pictured below.
For example, if your instructor has asked you to retrieve articles written within the past three years, or if you are looking for information written at the time of an historical event, such as September 11, 2001, you can limit your results to a certain range of dates.
You can also limit to peer-reviewed publications. Peer-reviewed or refereed means that articles published within these journals are selected by a panel of experts who evaluate them for accuracy and importance within the field of study.
