Summary: The issues involved with cataloging government documents are complicated, changing, and challenging. This workshop was designed to help documents librarians, paraprofessional staff, and catalogers to identify some of the issues, learn more about GPO's records, learn more about how MARC can be used in the ILS, and begin to formulate practices and policies to better use GPO's records. The pre-conference covered loading records, MARC format, some AACR2, and the kinds of customizing that can be done based on MARC fields to make records work the way libraries want them to.

Lunch sessions based on ILS allowed discussion of the various challenges of using particular systems. Session were facilitated by librarians using the system. Following the last featured presenter, the speakers and facilitators participated in a panel to review what was covered, and discussed issues with the attendees.
