Giambi Elected Vice President/President-Elect of ALCTS

M. Dina Giambi, Assistant Director for Library Technical Services of the University of Delaware Library, was elected Vice-President/President-Elect of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS), a major division of the American Library Association. Founded in 1957, ALCTS is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2007. Ms. Giambi will serve as ALCTS President in 2008/2009.
The Association for Library Collections and Technical Services has nearly 5,000 members from the United States and 42 countries. ALCTS (pronounced uh-lex) is the premier resource for information specialists in collection development, preservation, and technical services. ALCTS is the leader in the development of principles, standards, and best practices for selecting, acquiring, collecting, organizing, delivering, and preserving information resources in all forms. The Association provides forums for discussion, research and development, and opportunities for learning in all of these areas.
Ms. Giambi has been a member of ALCTS since 1989 and has held increasingly responsible appointed and elected positions. She served as Chair of the ALCTS Leadership Development Committee in 2003/2004 and 2004/2005, Chair of the ALCTS Acquisitions Section in 2000/2001, and ALCTS At-Large Member of the Board of Directors in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007. She received the ALCTS Presidential Citation in 2005.
