Invitation to Hear Sherrie Schmidt Speak
Sherrie Schmidt, University Librarian at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, will give a presentation entitled “Remarks about Research Libraries in the 21st Century” at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2007, in the Morris Library Class of 1941 Lecture Room. The lecture, sponsored by the University of Delaware Library, is free and open to the University Community.
Sherrie Schmidt has served as University Librarian at Arizona State University since 1991. Previously she served as the Assistant Director for Collections and Bibliographic Services at Texas A & M University. She has held various positions of increasing responsibility at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Dallas, the University of Florida, and the Ohio State University.
Ms. Schmidt is presently the President of the Association of Research Libraries. She served as President of Library Information and Technology Association, a division of the American Library Association. She has also served on the OCLC Users Council and as a member of ALA’s Committee on Accreditation. She has been professionally active especially in issues relating to the use of technology in libraries. She was a Senior Fellow at UCLA in 1989.
