The University of Delaware Library and Information Technologies invite the University of Delaware community to attend the Fall Student Multimedia Showcase on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room near the entrance of Morris Library. The Showcase celebrates successful multimedia projects that University of Delaware students have created throughout this semester using the resources in the Student Multimedia Design Center. Featured projects combine text, pictures, video, and audio into a single medium to demonstrate learning and deliver meaningful messages. The Fall Multimedia Postcard Contest finalists [www.udel.edu/smdc/contest/] will also be featured at the free event.
This is the second full year that the Student Multimedia Design Center on the lower level of Morris Library has been open. The resources available in the Center have helped over 100 faculty include a multimedia project assignment as part of the coursework for their classes. The Fall Multimedia Showcase will show a variety of short (3 minute or less) videos that faculty have nominated from their classes.
There is still time for University of Delaware faculty to nominate multimedia projects created by University of Delaware students in their classes during the semester for inclusion in the Showcase. Faculty need to submit a DVD for each nomination to the Student Multimedia Design Center. Faculty need to assure that the submissions follow U.S. Copyright Law. Nominations will be accepted from now through December 4, 2008. A list of the videos that will be shown during the event will be available on the Student Multimedia Design Center web www.udel.edu/smdc beginning December 5, 2008.
