The Annual Dinner of the University of Delaware Library Associates was held Monday, April 28, 2008 in Arsht Hall and attended by over 200 guests.
Wilson Braun, President of the University of Delaware Library Associates, presented President Patrick T. Harker with a check for $100,000 for the University of Delaware Library. The gift is to be used to acquire a Book of Hours which has repeatedly been requested by students and other rare items for Special Collections.
Walter Isaacson, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, former Chairman and CEO of CNN, and former Managing Editor of Time Magazine, spoke on “Einstein: What Are Imagination and Creativity?” relating to his award-winning biography Einstein: His Life and Universe (2007).
Walter Isaacson is also the author of /Benjamin Franklin: An American Life/ (2003), and during his remarks he paid tribute to J. A. Leo Lemay, Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Professor of English, as “the renown national expert” on Benjamin Franklin and whose research he used in his own writing. He also paid tribute to E. Wayne Craven, Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Professor of Art History, for his research on American painting and sculpture.
