The University of Delaware Library will offer two workshops on genealogical resources during the 2009 Spring Semester:
Genealogy for Beginners” covers basic genealogy research methods and provides an overview of the finding aids available through the University of Delaware Library. Attendees will learn how to search the online database Ancestry Library Edition for U.S. census records and find their ancestors in city directories.
“Family Information in Military Records” introduces the types of information researchers can locate in military sources such as service and pension records. Learn about records stored in the National Archives and how to apply for copies.The workshops will be presented by Rebecca Knight and Linda Stein both Associate Librarians in the Reference Department, and will be held in the Library Instruction Room (room 116A) on the First Floor of the Morris Library. The workshops are free and open to of University of Delaware students, faculty, and staff as well as the public. Seating is limited and registration is required.
