Library Announces Addition of Lincoln Documents to Digital Collection

The University of Delaware Library announces the addition of thirteen unique digitized documents signed or written by Abraham Lincoln, the bicentennial of whose birth is being celebrated in 2009.  The thirteen digitized documents have been added as a component of the University of Delaware Library Digital Collections as “American Civil War Digital Collections:  Autograph Abraham Lincoln Documents” [see: fletcher.lib.udel.edu/collections/ala/index.html].

Included in “American Civil War Digital Collections:  Autograph Abraham Lincoln Documents” are copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, abolishing slavery, both signed by Abraham Lincoln. The Library owns the originals of all thirteen documents, several of which will be on exhibit in the Special Collections Exhibition Gallery and in the Lincoln Exhibition case from January 27, 2009 through June 5, 2009.  The originals are part of the Lincoln Collection donated to the University by the Lincoln Club of Delaware in 1972.

In addition, the direct link to the digitized documents is available at [cdm.lib.udel.edu/cdm4/browse.php?CISOROOT=%2Fala].
