Music Databases Available

The University of Delaware Library provides campus-wide access to the music database Naxos Music Library which makes over 80,000 tracks in a variety of genres from about 5,500 compact discs in the Naxos catalog.  The sound quality of Naxos Music Library was recently upgraded from "near CD quality" to "CD quality", so that the sound quality is now at the highest level available.

“Naxos Music Library is an incredibly valuable resource for the department of Music and for the University at large,” said Paul Head, Chairperson of the Music Department.
Five additional  music databases are also available, Classical Music Library (over 50,000 tracks from a variety of classical music labels); Smithsonian Global Sound (American Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, Country, American Indian, Jazz, and more); American Song; Contemporary World Music; and Jazz Music Library.  These databases all issued by the Alexander Street Press were already at the “CD quality” level.

The Naxos Music Library and Classical Music Library are provided with the support of The Henry Newton Lee, Jr. Family Library Music Fund.  Smithsonian Global Sound is provided with the support of the Unidel Foundation.

The music databases can be accessed from the “Databases” link on the University of Delaware Library Web Page [].
