New Services in the Library Student Multimedia Design Center
The Student Multimedia Design Center on the lower level of Morris Library offers new services including the loan of laptops and iPads, poster printing, a Skype studio and Print Only workstations. Current University of Delaware students, faculty and staff are able to:
- Check out laptops and iPads: Check out one of 20 Dell Latitude laptops or one of two Apple iPads using a UD i-card or UD#1 card. The laptops come with Microsoft Office 2010 and have wireless printing capability. Both the laptops and iPads are available for a four-hour loan.
- Call using Skype: Make video/audio calls in Studio 5 using Skype [http://www.skype.com]. This functionality has been added to the traditional transfer studio, which holds one to two people, after many requests. Studio 5 may be booked for a two-hour time block up to a week in advance. Reservations for a studio can be made at the Student Multimedia Design Center service desk or by calling 302-831-8832.
- Print quickly: Use one of two iMac workstations designated as Print Only workstations. University of Delaware users may walk up to the designated stations, quickly open a document and send it to the VendPrint release station for payment and printing located nearby.
In addition, University of Delaware faculty, students and staff as well as the general public may now:
- Print posters: Large format printing is available by bringing a .PDF document to the Student Multimedia Design Center Service Desk on an external hard drive or flash memory stick. One side of the print document should be 35.5 inches long or less and the other side can be as long as needed. The cost is 5 dollars per linear foot, payable with FLEX, cash, or check.
