Library Offers "Global Astronomy Month" Exhibition

April 5, 2011----The University of Delaware Library announces the opening of a new exhibition in the Information Room on the first floor of the Morris Library. "Global Astronomy Month: One People, One Sky" will be on display through Saturday, April 30, 2011. The exhibition focuses on the spirit of collaboration and the sharing of ideas, observations, findings and theories between professional and amateur astronomers around the world. The exhibition features select materials related to astronomy from both the print and manuscript holdings of Special Collections, including a first edition of Galileo's "Dialogue" and Newton's "Principia."

"Global Astronomy Month: One People One Sky" was curated, designed and installed by Laurie Rizzo, assistant librarian, Special Collections Department with assistance from Anita Wellner, library assistant, Special Collections Department, who worked on exhibition preparation.
