March 15, 2011----The University of Delaware Library announces that the Morris Library will be open 24 hours a day beginning Wednesday, May 18, 2011, which is the first Reading Day, through Wednesday, May 25, 2011, when the Morris Library closes at 7 p.m. when the last final exam begins.
Following the existing staffing model, the Morris Library will be staffed by Public Safety employees from 12 a.m./ midnight until 2 a.m. Library service desks will not be staffed.
As always, Library electronic resources will be available 24/7.
“This change comes after a formal request by the Student Government Association to the Library, and after careful coordination, planning and support of the University of Delaware Library, Public Safety and Supporting Services,” said Dr. Sandra K. Millard, assistant director for Library Public Services, University of Delaware Library.
University of Delaware Public Safety will provide staffing of the Morris Library during the late night period from May 18-25, 2011, extending their Library staffing from 2 a.m. until 8 a.m. University of Delaware Supporting Services will extend the existing UD Shuttle Bus schedule that stops at the Morris Library to run until 7 a.m. when the regular daytime schedule begins.The contact for additional information or questions about the extended Morris Library hours during final exams is Dr. Millard via email at [firstname.lastname@example.org] or by telephone at 831-2231.
