Library Announces New Exhibition "From the Past, for the Future"

March 7, 2011----The University of Delaware Library announces the opening of a new exhibition in the Information Room on the first floor of the Morris Library entitled, "From the Past, for the Future: Celebrating Women's History Month with Selections from Special Collections."

The exhibition honors Women’s History Month and focuses on women's stories and the ways in which women have contributed to community-building and nation building.

With the premise that women have been a historically oppressed group, women have been unable or unwilling to tell their stories. Women's biographies and autobiographies serve as a testament to the countless stories and accomplishments that have gone untold. The exhibition features select women's biographies from the print holdings of Special Collections.

"From the Past, for the Future: Celebrating Women's History Month with Selections from Special Collections" is curated by Maureen Cech, assistant librarian, Special Collections Department. Also from the Special Collections Department, Anita Wellner, library assistant, worked on exhibition preparation and Laurie Rizzo, assistant librarian, worked on the design and installation of the physical and virtual exhibition.

The exhibition is available online at:
