The Manuscript Society of America Visits the Morris Library


    The Manuscript Society of America held its 2005 Annual Conference in Delaware with the Hagley Museum and Library serving as the host institution. Over sixty conference attendees visited the Morris Library on Thursday, May 26, 2005, as a part of the conference activities.  The attendees viewed the exhibition in Special Collections "A Manuscript Sampler: Highlights of the University of Delaware Library Manuscript Collections" and the Mark Samuels Lasner Collection.
Timothy Murray, Head of the Special Collections Department served as the moderator of the program and a University of Delaware greeting was given by
Dr. David P. Roselle, President, accompanied by Dr. Daniel Rich, Provost.  Dr. Charles E. Robinson, Professor of English at the University of Delaware, gave a presentation entitled "The Frankenstein Manuscript - Its Alive!" followed by a reception in the Reserve Room.

    The University of Delaware Library houses world-renowned manuscript and archival collections in a variety of subject areas with particular strengths in English, Iris, and American literature; history and Delawareana; art and architecture; horticulture; and the history of science and technology. "A Manuscript Sampler" features examples from all these collections.
