"Tiny Stars: White Dwarfs and
Brown Dwarfs Shine Feebly in the Dark Sky"
The University of Delaware Library announces the Scholar in the Library Series speaker, Harry L. Shipman, Annie Jump Cannon Professor of Astronomy of Physics and Astronomy Department, on "Tiny Stars: White Dwarfs and Brown Dwarfs Shine Feebly in the Dark Sky" on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, from Noon-1 p.m. in Morris Library's Class of 1941 Lecture Room.
Professor Shipman is internationally recognized leading scholar in Astronomy and Astrophysics. He will describe a few research highlights about white dwarf stars which are final life stages of stars, brown dwarfs. Also Professor Shipman will talk about how the changing nature of the astronomical library landscape has affected his research.
The Scholar in the Library Series
is sponsored by the Professional Development Committee of the University
of Delaware Library Assembly of Professional Staff (UDLAPS) and is open
to the public. There will be light refreshments sponsored by the Office
of the Director at the presentation and brown bag lunches are also welcome.
