Reference Materials | Career Collection | Government Information | Grants Information | Maps and Atlases | Patents and Trademarks | Vertical File Reference MaterialsThe Reference Collection consists of materials that provide information on many subjects and that can be used to start or supplement library research. Reference materials include such items as dictionaries, encyclopedias, bibliographies, maps, and directories. All Reference materials are listed in DELCAT and WorldCat Local and can be identified by the words "Morris Library - Reference" in the location line of the catalog record. Reference materials are non-circulating and should be used in the Reference Room. Career CollectionThe Career Collection in the Reference Room contains books about careers and the job search, including interviewing, cover letters and resumes. See the Careers guide for more information. Government InformationThe University of Delaware Library is a Federal Depository Library. Government publications are available on the Internet and in print, microform, and CD-ROM format (on the Lower Level). Many (though not all) federal government publications are listed in DELCAT. For more information, see Resources for U.S. Government Information. Grants InformationThe University of Delaware Library is an affiliate of the Foundation Center. The Foundation Center Cooperating Collection in the Reference Room is a specialized collection designed to help organizations identify potential sources of grant funding. Several grants databases supplement the print collection. For further information, see the Foundations and Grants guide or contact the Foundation Center coordinator. Maps and AtlasesThe Maps and Atlases Collection in the Reference Room contains current, historical, and specialized atlases of the United States, foreign countries, oceans, and the moon. Maps and atlases are shelved in the Reference stacks with call numbers beginning with "G" and in an atlas case in the Reference Room. There are additional maps in the Map Collection on the Lower Level. Patents and TrademarksThe University of Delaware Library is a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) Resource Center. The Patents and Trademarks area of the Reference Room provides reference sources and finding tools for U.S. patents and trademarks. Full text patents are accessible from the PTO Web site and from Google Patents. Patents are also available in DVD format. Vertical FileA collection of pamphlets and clippings relating to Delaware and the University of Delaware is located in a file cabinet in the Reference Room. |
