Reference Materials

The Reference Collection consists of materials in print, microform, and electronic formats which were selected to provide information on any subject. Reference materials include such items as dictionaries, encyclopedias, indexes for locating periodical articles, bibliographies, maps, and directories.

All Reference materials are listed in DELCAT and can be identified by the words "Morris Library - Reference" in the location line of the DELCAT record. Reference materials are non-circulating and should be used in the Reference Room.

Electronic Resources

Computers in the Reference Room are available for searching a wide variety of licensed databases and Internet resources. Additional computers which also provide Internet access are located in the Information Room and on the Lower Level.

E-Mail Express stations are located near the Information Room near the entrance to the Library.

Many (though not all) federal government publications are listed in DELCAT. For more information, see Resources for U.S. Government Information.

The Patents and Trademarks area of the Reference Room contains reference sources and finding tools for U.S. patents and trademarks. Patents in DVD format are stored in cabinets. Additionally full text patents are accessible from the PTO Web site. For further information, see the guide to Patents or contact the coordinator for patents and trademarks.

Career Collection

The Career Collection in the Reference Room contains books about careers and the job search, including interviewing, cover letters and resumes. See the Careers guide for more information.

Maps and Atlases

The Maps and Atlases Collection in the Reference Room contains current, historical, and specialized atlases of the United States and foreign countries. Maps and atlases are also shelved in the Reference stacks with call numbers beginning with "G." Additionally, maps are available in the Map Collection on the Lower Level. The USGS topographical maps are part of the Map Collection.

Vertical File

A collection of pamphlets and clippings relating to Delaware and the University of Delaware is located in a file cabinet in the Reference Room.
