In Library resources, the word "thesis" used alone means both master's
theses and doctoral dissertations.
University of Delaware Dissertations
- DELCAT.
Location: Library Databases
- University of Delaware doctoral dissertations and master's theses are listed
in DELCAT, the library catalog. Select "Search by Library Collection" from
the top banner and then "University of Delaware Theses." Theses
can be searched by author, title, or subject. Additionally, they can be searched
by department name or date. DELCAT lists the call numbers for theses; theses
can be borrowed in the same way as other library materials.

- The ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (Dissertation
Abstracts) database provides information on North American doctoral
dissertations and master's theses from 1861 to present. It also provides
broad coverage of European doctoral dissertations and some international
dissertations. The database includes abstracts for doctoral dissertations
from 1980 to present and for master's theses from 1988 to present. For
abstracts prior to 1980, see the print Dissertation
Abstracts International (DAI) (Library Annex Z5055 .U5 A53). Use
the Library Annex Request
Form to obtain materials from the Library Annex.
More than 100,000 dissertations have been digitized and are available
full text. University of Delaware digital dissertations are free to University
of Delaware faculty, students, and staff. (Digital dissertations from institutions
other than the University of Delaware are available for a fee.) Adobe
Reader is required to view and print full text digitized dissertations.
From July 2005 onward all University of Delaware dissertations and theses
are submitted digitally, and the Library does not have print or microfilm
copies.

- The Thesis Collection at University Archives includes all doctoral and
master's theses from the University of Delaware, dating back to its founding.
Additionally, this collection includes undergraduate theses, written for
honors bachelor's degrees. The Thesis Collection is stored off-site; allow
at least one working day for retrieval.

dissertations and master's theses from 1861 to present. It also provides

- Interlibrary Loan.
- Dissertations and theses not available at the University of Delaware may
be obtained through the Interlibrary Loan service (ILL). ILL requests can
be submitted electronically by using the online
form. Always check DELCAT before submitting an ILL request.

Interlibrary Loan of University of Delaware Dissertations
The Interlibrary Loan service of the University of Delaware Library loans
University of Delaware dissertations in print or microformat. Check DELCAT to
obtain the correct information to fill out an ILL request form. Interlibrary
Loan is a library to library service; the ILL request must be initiated from
a library.
From July 2005 onward all University of Delaware
dissertations and theses are submitted digitally and the Library does not have
print or microfilm copies and does not provide ILL service for these theses.
Dissertations cannot be purchased from the University of Delaware Library.
Dissertations can be purchased from the UMI/ProQuest company through the ProQuest
Dissertations & Theses database. UMI also provides a free ordering
interface called Dissertation
Express. Dissertation Express can be searched
by author or title and covers 1861 to present.
