LexisNexis Statistical Library Databases [restricted to UD users] Database has two important components: "Find a Table" and "Find a Publication." The database covers statistical publications from the federal government (ASI), state governments and private publishers (SRI), and intergovernmental organizations, such as the United Nations (IIS).

Census of Agriculture

Census of farms, farm characteristics, and products. Conducted every five years. Each census contains some comparative data from previous Censuses. Data cover national, state, county, and zip code areas. From the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Department of Agriculture.

Historical
Decennial census -- 1840 was the first census to collect statistics on agriculture. Agriculture continued to be included in the decennial census up to 1950.

Economic Census
The Economic Census profiles the US economy, from the national level to the local level. Economic sectors covered include: Mining, Utilities, Construction, Wholesale Trade, Retail Trade, and others. Conducted every five years.

Prior to the 1997 Economic census, each economic sector was treated as a separate census.

Historical
Decennial census -- 1810 was the first census to collect economic data (arts and manufactures). Economic data continued to be included in the decennial census up to 1940, except for 1830 when no economic data were collected. The 1940 Census added Retail and Wholesale Trade and Service Industries.

United States Historical Census Data Browser Internet Demographic and economic data for each state and county from 1790 to 1960.
USA Counties Internet Compilation of data for U.S., states, and counties. Data on a variety of demographic, economic, and governmental subjects. Emphasizes long time series. Sources include: State and Metropolitan Area Data Book, County and City Data Book, the 1980 Census, and the 1990 Census. The time periods covered for each data item vary. Generally, for annual data series, there are several years of data (e.g., personal income data from 1969 through 1994). For decennial and economic census data, comparable information from a prior census is available (e.g., 1930, 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, and 1990 population data).
