UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
The IPCC is a scientific intergovernmental body set up by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The IPCC was established to provide decision-makers and others interested in climate change with an objective source of information about climate change. The IPCC does not conduct any research nor does it monitor climate related data or parameters. Its role is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the latest scientific, technical and socio-economic literature produced worldwide.
OECD Climate Change page
The OECD aims to assist countries to implement effective and efficient policies to address climate change by conducting policy-relevant research and analysis. Mitigation of GHG emissions, adaptation policies, analysis of the connections between sustainability and climate change, and incentives and possible approaches to achieve long-term policy objectives are essential elements of the programme.
European Environmental Agency: Climate Change
Reports, indicators, maps and graphs are some of the resources found on this “Theme” page from this intergovernmental organization of 32 member countries. Also included are FAQs and a number of links to external web pages.
Max Planck Institute for Meteorology
The MPI-M is an internationally renowned institute for climate research. The major objective of its 130 scientists, post docs and PhD students is to understand how physical, chemical and biological processes, as well as human behavior contribute to the dynamics of the Earth system, and specifically how they relate to global and regional climate changes.
ICECAP, International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project
ICECAP, International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project, is the portal to all things climate for elected officials and staffers, journalists, scientists, educators and the public. It provides access to a new and growing global society of respected scientists and journalists that are not deniers that our climate is dynamic (the only constant in nature is change) and that man plays a role in climate change through urbanization, land use changes and the introduction of greenhouse gases and aerosols, but who also believe that natural cycles such as those in the sun and oceans are also important contributors to the global changes in our climate and weather.
World Meteorological Organization
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is the UN system's authoritative voice on the state and behaviour of the Earth’s atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of water resources.
EPA Climate Change
EPA’s Climate Change Site offers comprehensive information on the issue of climate change in a way that is accessible and meaningful to all parts of society – communities, individuals, business, states and localities, and governments.
U.S. Global Change Research Program
The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) supports research on the interactions of natural and human-induced changes in the global environment and their implications for society.
Pew Center on Global Climate Change
The Pew Center on Global Climate Change was established in 1998 as a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization. The Center's mission is to provide credible information, straight answers, and innovative solutions in the effort to address global climate change.
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is dedicated to research and education to advance understanding of the ocean and its interaction with the Earth system, and to communicating this understanding for the benefit of society.
University of Maine Climate Change Institute
The Climate Change Institute (formerly the Institute for Quaternary and Climate Studies) is an interdisciplinary research unit organized to conduct research and graduate education focused on variability of the earth's climate, ecosystems, and other environmental systems, and on the interaction between humans and the natural world.
Library of Congress Science Tracer Bullet: Global Warming & Climate Change
The Library of Congress Science Tracer Bullet Series contains research guides that help you locate information on science and technology subjects. This page on GlobalWarming and Climate Change contains many useful and informative links to reference works, government publications, conference proceedings, journals, technical reports, and other information resources on this topic.
State of Delaware Climate Change
A web page prepared by the State of Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to summarize the impact of climate change on the geography of Delaware.
Sea Level Rise and its Effect on Delaware
A paper prepared by Willett Kempton and Amardeep Dhanju of the College of Marine and Earth Studies, University of Delaware, to review and provide some perspective on current knowledge of the effects of climate change on sea level rise and how it will affect Delaware. The page contains links to the Co2 page of the College of Marine and Earth Studies at the University if Delaware.
Next Generation Earth: Delaware
Next Generation Earth is associated with the Earth Institute of Columbia University. This is their page on climate change in Delaware, but there are also pages for all 50 states available from this site. Contained here are links to a Carbon Calculator for estimating your Co2 footprint as well as other useful resources.
Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, or RGGI, is a cooperative effort by Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. To address this important environmental issue, the RGGI participating states will be developing a regional strategy for controlling emissions. This strategy will more effectively control greenhouse gases, which are not bound by state or national borders.
Impacts of Climate Change in the United States: Mid-Atlantic
This page is an excerpt from The First National Assessment of the Potential Impacts of Climate Variability and Change, a congressionally mandated assessment of the potential consequences of climate change and variability throughout the United States. This page is sponsored by a variety of organizations including the World Wildlife Fund, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and Natural Resources Defense Council.
Co2 Science
The Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change was created to disseminate factual reports and sound commentary on new developments in the world-wide scientific quest to determine the climatic and biological consequences of the ongoing rise in the air’s CO2 content. It meets this objective through weekly online publication of its CO2 Science magazine, which contains editorials on topics of current concern and mini-reviews of recently published peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, books, and other educational materials. In this endeavor, the Center attempts to separate reality from rhetoric in the emotionally-charged debate that swirls around the subject of carbon dioxide and global change.
Science & Environmental Policy Project
The Science & Environmental Policy Project was founded in 1990 by atmospheric physicist S. Fred Singer on the premise that sound, credible science must form the basis for health and environmental decisions that affect millions of people and cost tens of billions of dollars every year. A non-profit, 501(c)3 educational group, its mission was to clarify the diverse problems facing the planet and, where necessary, arrive at effective, cost-conscious solutions.
New Zealand Science Climate Coalition
To represent accurately, and without prejudice, facts regarding climate change; to provide considered opinion on matters related to both natural and human-caused climate effects; and to comment on the economic and socio-political consequences of climate change.
