This is the online version of the American National Biography, an important 24-volume collection of the biographies of significant individuals in American history who died prior to 1996 (Oxford UP, 1999). The database includes portraits from photographs, paintings, and engravings.
BGMI indexes a wide range of current and retrospective biographical dictionaries. No full text is provided, but the University of Delaware Library holds many of the titles covered. A list of the titles is available online. BGMI does not provide access to periodical articles or books of biography devoted to one individual.
Biography Reference Bank provides the full text of biographies from antiquity to the present. Biographical reference books published by H. W. Wilson are indexed, including Current Biography, the World Author Series, Nobel Prize Winners, World Artists, World Film Directors, and American Reformers. The database also cites biographical material appearing in periodicals, current books of individual and collective biography, and non-biographical books.
The Biography Resource Center provides the full text of biographies from printed sources and full-text articles from nearly 250 periodicals. A list of the titles indexed by BRC is available online.

Oxford Art Online Online provides access to the entire text of The Dictionary of Art, ed. Jane Turner (1996, 34 vols.) and The Oxford Companion to Western Art, ed. Hugh Brigstocke (2001). Over 1,500 thumbnail art images and line drawings are made available.
Oxford Music Online comprises the full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, second edition, edited by Stanley Sadie and John Tyrrell (London, 2001), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera, edited by Stanley Sadie (London, 1992), and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, second edition, edited by Barry Kernfeld (London, 2002). Articles that have been updated since their appearance in print are date-stamped. There are some sound files available in the database. To listen to them, a small software plug-in called Scorch is required. Scorch is available as a free download from Sibelius.com.
Literature Resource Center features the complete text of Contemporary Authors and Dictionary of Literary Biography. There are selections from Contemporary Literary Criticism and other Gale literary reference sets, including Poetry Criticism, Drama Criticism, Nineteenth-Century Literary Criticism, Novels for Students, and Literature and Its Times. There are links from LRC to the Literature Online (LION) database. Designed for undergraduates, LRC offers a literary historical timeline and the opportunity to search for authors by literary movement or time period, ethnicity, nationality, theme, genre, and birth or death date.

This online edition of the Dictionary of National Biography offers an illustrated collection of biographies. The database provides information about those who were born and lived in the British Isles, including Ireland; people born there who made their mark in former colonies and in Europe; those who lived in the former colonies when involved directly with British rule; and some people born abroad who lived in or left significant records of the British Isles. The coverage is 4th century B.C.E. to 2000, with no entries for living persons.
The Times Digital Archive is the digital edition of The Times (London) and its predecessor title Universal Daily Register (1785-1788). The database provides full facsimile images of articles, as well as complete pages of The Times. The entire newspaper is captured, with all articles, advertisements, and illustrations/photos divided into categories to facilitate searching. The Sunday Times is not included in The Times Digital Archive. Issues of The Sunday Times are available on microfilm (Microfilm S 280).
