The European Library is a gateway to the catalogs of many of the national libraries in Europe. A list of the participating libraries is available on the website, as well as images of some of the treasures of the national libraries.

Early volumes of its various titles are located in the Information Desk area. The Library of Congress Catalogs: Subject Catalog merged with the National Union Catalog and was continued by NUC: Books (LC Subject Index). The Library of Congress now offers its catalog records on the Web via the online catalog (see below).
The catalog contains bibliographic records representing books, serials, computer
files, manuscripts, cartographic materials, music, sound recordings, and visual
materials from the Library's collections. Those using text-only browsers can
view the records through an alternative interface for the online catalog. There
is a webpage with information on frequently-asked
questions about the catalog. PPOC is
a separate online catalog for prints and photographs. SONIC is
a database "comprised of information about a portion of the Library's 78 rpm
discs, nearly all the 45 rpm discs, cassettes, as well as several special collections
on various formats." Recordings of music and spoken word are included in the
database.

Works are listed alphabetically by author, corporate author, or title (for anonymous works).
An internal index is provided for an author who has a lengthy or complicated sequence of entries, such
as Shakespeare. The above title supersedes the British Museum General
Catalogue of Printed Books. The University of Delaware Library does not hold the supplemental
volumes for the years following 1975.
This is the main catalog of the British Library. Other specialized catalogs are
listed below. Additional holdings lists and finding aids (e.g., "Bookbindings,"
"Maps," and "Illuminated
Manuscripts" may be accessed from the homepage of the British Library Integrated
Catalogue by selecting the link "Other Catalogues not in the Integrated Catalogue."
English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC) - lists items published (mainly in Great Britain and North America) between 1473 and 1800 from the collections of the British Library and over two thousand other libraries.
Manuscripts Catalogue - catalog of the British Library's collection of Western-language manuscripts.
The Nineteenth Century - an online catalog of nineteenth-century works available on microfiche.
Sound Archive - a catalog covering recordings held by the British Library Sound Archive in all genres,
from pop, jazz, classical and world music to wildlife sounds, oral history, drama,
literature, language and dialect.
