Data Resources
Research Data Management Services (RDMS) at the University of Delaware maintains
a relatively comprehensive list of data available on the Internet and through
their own data collection. Data are categorized as Earth Science, Meteorology/Climate,
Remote Sensing, Social Science, Financial, Delaware Region, US Census, and
Misc. Data Centers.
Geo-Guide
An Internet subject gateway to scholarly relevant information in earth
science, geography and mining. Resources are described and evaluated with
a set of Dublin Core metadata. Created at Göttingen State and University
Library.
GeoSource
Geosource is a collection of links to webpages with information in the subjects
that are being taught and studied in the Faculty of Geographical Sciences
of Utrecht University, Netherlands. These are cartography, environmental science
and policy studies, human geography, physical geography, and planning science.

Virtual Geography Department
Internet Resources for geographers, maintained by Lance Christian and Kenneth

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
A collection of resources sponsored by the federal government that includes
information for students and teachers, concerned citizens, researchers and
scientists, business and industry, etc. Directory type information is included
for people, offices and labs, and data systems and software. There is also
an EPA news section.
EarthTrends: The Environmental Information
Portal
A cooperative project of the World Resources Institute, the World Bank, the
UN Environment Program, the UN Development Program and others that provides
a wide array of environmental data and information. The material is grouped
into broad topics: coastal and marine ecosystems; water resources and freshwater
ecosystems; climate and atmosphere; population, health and human well-being;
economics, business and the environment; energy and resources; biodiversity
and protected areas; agriculture and food; forests and grasslands; and environmental
institutions and governance.
Human Geography
City Population
High-tech city population database. Gives official population figures for
thousands of cities, agglomerations, provinces and states around the world. There are interactive Java-based maps showing population sizes on mouseover
action. Maps pop up when clicking on the number of a city in the lists. There
is a special listing of cities
with over 1 million population, which is also available for downloading in

Governments on the WWW
Comprehensive database of governmental institutions on the World Wide Web:
parliaments, ministries, offices, law courts, embassies, city councils, public
broadcasting corporations, central banks, multi-governmental institutions
etc. Includes also political parties. Online since June 1995. Contains more
than 17000 entries from more than 220 countries and territories as of July
2001.
IMF Staff Country Reports
Up-to-date information on the economic and financial situation in almost all
countries of the world.
Official City Sites
Gateway to municipal sites in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Netherlands,

Population Index
The Index covers all fields of interest to demographers, including fertility,
mortality, population size and growth, migration, nuptiality and the family,
research methodology, projections and predictions, historical demography,
and demographic and economic interrelations. Input is derived from original
publications including monographs, journal articles, other serial publications,
working papers, doctoral dissertations, machine-readable data files, and relevant
acquisitions lists and bibliographies.
Portals to the
World: Links to Electronic Resources Around the World
Portals to the World contain selective links providing authoritative, in-depth
information about the nations and other areas of the world. They are arranged
by country or area with the links for each sorted into a wide range of broad
categories (General Resources Business, Commerce, Economy, Culture, Education,
etc.). The links were selected by Area Specialists and other Library staff
using Library of Congress selection criteria.
ReliefWeb
ReliefWeb is a project of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which provides information on natural and man-made
disasters. Under the caption "complex emergencies" one can find
information on countries with ongoing humanitarian stress (e.g. Balkans, Liberia,
North Korea, Sierra Leone, Sudan).
MapTech Mapserver
Access to over 60,000 topographic maps, nautical charts, aeronautical charts,
and aerial and satellite photographs covering the United States.
Subway Navigator
This online program helps you find your journey via public transport in over
60 cities around the world, 10 of which are situated in the US.
EROS Data Center
Earth Resources Observation Systems, U.S. Geological Survey, National Mapping
Information: This USGS repository for Remote Sensing data maintains the Global
Land Information System (GLIS), containing information about digital data
available from USGS and other sources. It is especially useful for graphically
browsing and ordering satellite imagery.
