Journals

Current issues of journals are shelved alphabetically in the Periodicals Room next to the Reference Room. Older issues of journals are shelved by their call numbers in the book stacks on the second, third, and lower levels of the Library. Many journals are available via electronic subscriptions. Access the electronic journal via its URL in DELCAT or go to the UD Library's list of electronic journals.

American Mathematical Monthly
This journal contains lively and expository mathematical articles, notes, and other features by the mathematical profession's most esteemed practitioners.
Archive for History of the Exact Sciences
Articles in this archive analyze the historical course of mathematical thought and the precise theory of nature. It is devoted mainly to mathematics and natural philosophy.
Convergence
An online magazine where mathematics, teaching and history interact. This magazine is sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America with the cooperation of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. It is a resource and forum for mathematics teachers who are interested in using mathematics history as a learning/ teaching tool.
Historia Mathematica
This journal publishes historical scholarship on mathematics and its development in all cultures and time periods. It includes studies on mathematicians and their work in historical context, on the histories of institutions and organizations supportive of the mathematical endeavor, on historiographical topics in the history of mathematics, and on the interrelations between mathematical ideas, science, and the broader culture.
Isis
Since its inception in 1912, Isis has featured scholarly articles, research notes and commentary on the history of science, medicine, and technology, and their cultural influences. Review essays and book reviews on new publications in the field are also included. It is the oldest (and most widely circulating) English-language journal in the field. The Current Bibliography (formerly the Cumulative Bibliography) of the history of science is published annually as a fifth volume of Isis. This is a bibliography of recent publications in the history of science and related fields, including books, book reviews, and journal articles.
Mathematics Magazine
This journal’s intended audience is teachers of collegiate mathematics and their students. One goal is to provide stimulating supplements for undergraduate mathematics courses, especially at the upper undergraduate level. Another goal is to inform and refresh the teachers of these courses by revealing new connections or giving new perspectives on history. Articles are written in a clear and lively expository style.
Mathematics Teacher
This is an official journal of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is intended as a resource for teachers and teacher educators.
Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School
This is an official journal of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is intended as a resource for teachers and teacher educators. Note that the Library doesn't subscribe to Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, but articles can be requested using the library's interlibrary loan service. Browse the Cumulative Author and Subject Index - not linked to online articles.
Scripta Mathematica
The journal was established in 1932 and ceased publication in 1973. It was devoted to the philosophy, history, and expository treatment of mathematics. One goal of the articles in the journal was to make mathematics accessible to a broad public. Past issues available at the Library Annex: v.1(1932)-v.29(1973).
