Patent Materials at the University of Delaware Library

The University of Delaware Library is an officially designated member of the Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program (PTDLP) which is administered by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). All of the materials needed to conduct a preliminary patent search are available online from computers in the Reference Room on the first floor of the Library. A few of the older, printed materials are located in the Government Documents area on the Lower Level, although most printed and microfilm materials have been removed to the Library Annex now that this information is available online. Search DELCAT by the title of the publication to obtain the SuDocs number for that title.

The links below provide a variety of information on patents, the materials in the patents collection at the Morris Library, and how to find patents by various methods (inventor, subject, etc.). Users should be able to locate the information they need from one of these links as well as to obtain instructions for performing various patent searches. If you require furthur assistance after reading these instructions, please contact the Patent Librarian to schedule an appointment for individual instruction.
