The CASSIS computer system is provided to depository libraries by the USPTO to provide easy access to up-to-date patent and trademark information. CASSIS is a CD-ROM system that is updated on a regular basis and contains different files that will assist the searcher during a search. The patent information is divided among many different files in the system. No one file will contain all of the information that you need for a complete search, so it is important that the user become familiar with the different files in the system in order to know which file contains the information needed at any part of the search. The following links will provide information on each of the files in the CASSIS system. The instructions for performing different types of searches will contain the names of all of the files that are needed to perform that particular kind of search and when to use each one; these links provide only content information on each of the individual files in the CASSIS system. File descriptions will be added on a regular basis as they are completed.
