DELCAT

Use DELCAT, the catalog of the University of Delaware Library, to locate books on your subject. Also, DELCAT lists the titles of the library subscriptions to serials: magazines, journals, and newspapers.

Current Resources

Expanded Academic ASAP Plus.
LOCATION: Library Databases
Provides bibliographic references, abstracts, or full text for articles from more than 2,300 scholarly journals and general interest magazines. It has full text of more than 1,300 titles. Covers the humanities, social sciences, non-technical general sciences and current events. Covers 1980 to present; updated daily.
LexisNexis Academic.
LOCATION: Library Databases
One of the best sources for current information, especially from newspapers or wire services. Most of the citations have full text of the article. Also includes full text articles from selected magazines and journals. Public opinion polls and surveys can be found in the Reference module of LexisNexis Academic.
LexisNexis Statistical.
LOCATION: Library Databases
An index to statistical publications issued by the federal government, state governments, private publishers, and international and intergovernmental organizations. It includes links to agency web sites and to the full text of a publication, if the agency has made it available.

Periodical Indexes and Abstracts

Alternative Press Index.
LOCATION: Morris Library - Reference (Ref HN17.5 .A1 A46)
Indexes alternative and radical publications, including several African studies journals. A listing of the publications indexed is given at the front of each volume.
America: History & Life.
LOCATION: Library Databases
A database covering the world's scholarly literature in history. This index includes article abstracts and bibliographical citations of reviews and dissertations on the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present. There are some links to full text articles.
Historical Abstracts.
LOCATION: Library Databases
A database (1955 to the present) covering scholarly journal articles, book reviews, and dissertations in world history (excluding the United States and Canada).
JSTOR.
LOCATION: Library Databases
A database of back issues of core journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Among the major journals included are Pubic Opinion Quarterly and Political Research Quarterly.
PAIS International.
LOCATION: Library Databases
An electronic index (1972 to the present) to books, periodicals, and government documents on issues concerning public affairs.
Women's Studies International.
LOCATION: Library Databases
An interdisciplinary combination of nine important files, containing over 204,000 records drawn from a variety of essential Women's Studies databases. Included is the Women Studies Abstracts, which indexes Women's Studies journals from 1984 to the present.

A frequently updated coverage of elections and public opinion polls.
Gallup Organization.

The Gallup Organization has studied human nature and behavior for more than 70 years. This site provides summary results of the most current public opinion polls.
General Social Survey Codebook.

The mission of the General Social Survey is to make timely, high-quality, scientifically relevant data available to the social science research community.
Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.

A non-profit organization that conducts research on public policy issues of special concern to black Americans and other minorities.
Harris Poll Online.
LOCATION: Internet (http://www.harrispollonline.com/)
Provides summary and annalysis of the Harris Polls conducted since 1998.
Pew Research Center.
LOCATION: Internet (http://people-press.org/)
The Pew Center is an independent opinion research group that studies attitudes toward the press, politics and public policy issues. It serves as a forum for ideas on the media and public policy through public opinion research.
Roper Center for Public Opinion Research.

The Roper Center provides polling data and reports of public opinion. It is a non-profit, non-partisan public opinion data archive.
Zogby International.
LOCATION: Internet (http://zogby.com/)
Zogby International has been tracking public opinion since 1984 in North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. The site provides summaries of recent public opinion polls conducted.

Weekly news reports from government press releases and 50 U.S. and foreign newspapers, arranged country by country.
Keesing's Record of World Events.
LOCATION: Morris Library - Reference (Ref D410 .K4)
Records national and international affairs with continually updated indexes and based on information obtained from the press, broadcasting, and official sources. Complementing the news digest section is a reference section which includes cross-indexed and up-to-date background briefing documents. Political and economic data is presented country by country, topic by topic.
LexisNexis Academic.
LOCATION: Library Databases
Provides full-text information on a variety of topics from newspapers, magazines, legal literature, and other sources. Several subfiles are available that may be searched individually, including: General News Topics, Country Profiles, Foreign Language News, Government & Political News.
New York Times.
LOCATION: Library Databases
Provides full page and article images with searchable full text of the New York Times back to 1851. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue up to 1999.
