Current Information
Morris Library contains many sources of information about psychological
testing which can be accessed manually or electronically. Follow the steps
below in searching for information. Note: The Library does not collect
actual psychological tests. Such a collection is housed at the Education
Resource Center, 012 Willard Hall Education Building; access is restricted.
Call 831-2335 for information.
Searching DELCAT
DELCAT is the online catalog of the University of Delaware Library.
In the basic search mode of DELCAT search psychological tests from
the pull down browse menu for "Subject begins with..." A browse list
will appear allowing you to select the heading appropriate to your topic. Other
subject headings (e.g., psychometrics) may be searched from
the "Browse
an alphabetical index" by typing a word or phrase in the search box. Another
option is to search under test name using keyword searching.

- This Internet site includes biographies, with a time line, of people who have influenced the development of intelligence theory and testing.

- Lists thousands of assessment instruments for psychologists, educators
and human resource personnel. These are not evaluative entries but present
precise descriptions for quick scanning.
Current Information
Dissertations and journal articles provide good sources for information
on tests. This is a selected list of indexes (print and electronic) that
contain test related information.

- Electronic index to the 427 periodicals included in Education Index. It also includes the full text of more than 133 of the most important education journals from 1995 forward. Covers 1983-present.

Mental Measurements Yearbook

- The electronic version of the Mental Measurements
Yearbook contains
description information and critical reviews of commercially-available standardized
English-language educational, personality, aptitude, neuropsychological and
achievement and intelligence tests. This database contains data from Yearbooks
9 through 16, and is updated every six months. The coverage begins with the
1989 yearbook.

- Electronic index to psychology journals and books. The major subject headings
to search are "measurement" and "testing." Searching under the
test name with the keywords validity and reliability will derive test information.

Psychological Abstracts
Location: Library Annex
- See "psychometrics," "test administration," "test
bias," "test construction," and "test validity." For
other terms use the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms. Library has
1927-1999.

Web of Science

- A huge, multidisciplinary database corresponding to Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index, published by the Institute for Scientific Information. Provides access to a wealth of scholarly journal literature from more than 8,000 scholarly journals. Cited references may also be searched. Abstracts are included. Updated weekly.

Sociological Abstracts

- Electronic index of sociology journals. See the subject headings "tests",
"measurement",
and names of specific tests.
Listings of unpublished tests and bibliographies are available in the
following reference sources. Unpublished tests are referred to in articles,
dissertations, etc. but are not available from commercial publishers. Sometimes
copies or excerpts of tests may be found in the literature.

- These volumes may be consulted for unpublished experimental tests appearing
in journals in psychology, sociology, education and interdisciplinary areas
in the social sciences. Entries are brief descriptions of test and reference
to journal where it appeared.

Johnson, O.G. Tests and Measurements in Child Development: A Handbook. 2 vols. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass, 1976.

- Original handbook (1971) has unpublished measures from 1950 to 1965
for use with children from birth through age 12. Later handbook (1976)
contains 900 unpublished measures for use with children.
To examine actual psychological tests, contact the Education Resource
Center in Room 012, Willard Hall Education Building, at 831-2335. Their collection
of more than 500 educational and psychological tests is available for inspection
for research purposes or class assignments with faculty permission. A partial
list of these tests is kept at the Reference Desk. All the tests are indexed
in the ERC online catalog.
To find the list of tests in the ERC catalog type the word test in the
search box and click on "call#".
