In 1993, in response to the State Librarian's report, Governor Thomas R. Carper convened a Task Force on School Libraries to improve and extend the library and information services for Delaware K-12 students. In 2003, Governor Ruth Ann Minner, in Executive Order #35, reconstituted the Governor's Task Force on School Libraries. In 2009, the Governor's Task Force on School Libraries continues its work under the Governor Jack Markell with the approval of the Office of the Governor, Director of Boards and Commissions. The Task Force continues the work of the first group and engages in the following activities:
